Andrea Galvani
Andrea Galvani (1973) adopta una postura multidisciplinaria en la que mayormente se inspira de la metodología científica. Las investigaciones conceptuales de Galvani informan sobre su uso en fotografía, video, dibujo, escultura, sonido, instalaciones arquitectónicas y performance. Su trabajo pareciera que aumenta la conciencia, articula y extiende los límites de la percepción sensorial. Investigando las relaciones entre la fragilidad y la monumentalidad, temporalidad y continuidad, visibilidad e invisibilidad; sus proyectos son documentos de intervenciones orquestrados presencialmente. Modificando y distorsionando los alrededores naturales, Galvani transforma el ambiente en un laboratorio para experimentos físicos, observación y acción colectiva.
El trabajo de Galvani ha sido exhibido internacionalmente, incluyendo el Whitney Museum, Nueva York; 4ta edición de la Bienal en Moscú; Mediations Biennial, Poznan, Polonia; 9vna edición de la Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo en Nicaragua; Art in General, Nueva York; Aperture Foundation, Nueva York; The Calder Foundation, Nueva York; Museo Di Arte Moderna e Cotemporanea Di Trento e Rovereto, Trento, Italia; Museo D’Arte Contemporanea Roma, Italia; Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Bergamo, Italia; De Brakke Grond, Ámsterdam; Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen, entre otras. Él ha sido un artista visitante en la Universidad de Nueva York y ha completado una variedad de residencias artísticas en Nueva York, incluyendo Location One International Artist REsidency Program, LMCC Lower Manhattan Cultural Council y MIA Artist Space Program/Columbia University School of Arts. En el 2011, recibió el premio a New York Exposure y fue nominado a la categoría de Deutsche Börse Photography. En el 2016, su trabajo forma parte de la colección permanente del Dallas Museum of Art y el Museo Di Arte Moderna e Cotemporanea Di Trento e Rovereto presentó la primera retrospectiva de la carrera de Galvani en Europa. En el 2017, el artista fue seleccionado para representar el Deutsche Bank Collection con una exposición individual en Frieze Nueva York.
